I hope you have had a wonderful week! It's been a good one over here. It's busy and tiring, but it's good.

We've wanted to replace our bedroom carpet for a couple of years. It is 20 years old. It finally happened this week. I'll be sharing more soon. You can see the progress in my stories on Instagram.

Our house is a wreck right now with moving out of our bedroom. Who knew that one bedroom and closet could have so much stuff?

I expected to have to touch up the base molding after the removal of the carpet. I decided to touch up the wall.

They were last painted in 2019 in Ashwood by Benjamin Moore. I called our local dealer, who said the flat paint had been discontinued. I had to have the color mixed in the new formulation. He recommended recoating the walls. I wasn't expecting to have to repaint the entire room, but I did.

Sadly the paint is a slightly different hue. I'll be sharing the entire project soon. They just finished the final coat on the floors this morning. We can't move in until Thursday. Chaos will reign for another week, but it will be worth it!

before of thrift store art

Here is a little teaser. This is the before of my thrift store project which will be live this coming Wednesday. It looks so much better now with minimal work. One product I used is Mod Podge. You can see my thrift store makeovers HERE. Subscribe to my newsletter so you will be notified when the project goes live!

I recently popped in my local Marshalls/Homegoods and picked up this lovely embroidered runner. It has pretty summer French country vibes. Homegoods is my go-to for runners and napkins. Did you know that you can order online?

We host Sunday lunches after church for our family. We frequently eat in the kitchen and things are very casual.

The Look

I wore this dress last Sunday to church. I purchased it back in January for my daughter-in-law's baby shower that I hosted.

I wear it loose and belted. It's a dress style that Anthropologie stocks all the time. The colors and patterns change with the season. My colorway is no longer available, but I'll share a couple below for fall.

FIT TIP: I am wearing a size small. I recommend reading the reviews for sizing.

This green colorway is a wonderful option for late summer and fall. Pair it with booties when the weather cools.

I'd even wear this colorway in the winter months!

Make a bold statement with this blue and brown version!

FIT TIP: These shorts run large. I bought the black in 8. They are way too big and I should have returned. I still wear them. I have the navy and light tan in a size 6 which is still a bit big, but I like the relaxed fit. These are the navy. The sweater is a size medium.

In the Kitchen

We made this burrata pasta recipe last week. It was so good! I adapted it with what I had on hand. I will be writing up that recipe for you with my adjustments and additions. The leftovers were great.

What I'm Reading

I love to read AND listen to books. If you are looking for a way to get more steps in with your walking…..listen to books! You will want to keep walking to listen. I also listen while doing chores around the house. I will use my earbuds while walking, While in the house I will use a Bluetooth speaker that I can carry around with me or our Alexa.

I read actual printed books as well as on Kindle. I prefer my Kindle, but holding a real book occasionally is nice.

I've had my Audible membership for a while, and LOVE it! It gives me one book credit per month.

Let me share how I read on Kindle and listen to books. Get yourself a library card!

Then add the LIBBY and HOOPLA apps to your phone.

I will typically check to see if a book is available there first before using my credit or buying. Using these 2 apps with your library card is FREE!!! I love FREE.

There may be a waitlist if it is a newer title or popular. That's ok. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy. If I'm not willing to wait, I will just purchase. If it is new or popular, you NEED to finish the book in the allowed checkout time. Sometimes you can renew, and sometimes you may have to get back in the queue. If that happens, when it is available again…..it will download where you left off.

Get in the habit of always carrying a book with you to get in a little extra time. That way if you are waiting at the doctor's office or to get your car serviced….you are prepared!

It was my goal to read more than 12 books last year, and I completed that task. Check out that list which has been updated with my thoughts on the books. Here is my list for 2024. This is the list of definites for the year. I have a goal of 36 books this year. I will sprinkle in lots of audiobooks as well. Here is an update for 2024.

  1. This is related to your bedroom renovation —which I loved. You mention the dots on your windows because of the birds. We are in Colorado and have some big west facing windows that reflect our trees as the sun comes around. We have birds hitting the windows all the time. It’s heartbreaking.
Can you tell me where you found your dots and did you come up with the pattern and install them yourself?

    Thanks so much!

    1. Thanks so very much! The bird discs are stickers that you apply on the outside of the window. I probably went overboard on my application, but was so sad with number of bird strikes. These work!!! Here is my affiliate link. https://amzn.to/4dGGSkb

  2. First of all, you look stunning in those dresses! Each one!
Second, reading about your carpet makes me want to beg for new flooring in our outdated bedroom. I’ve been keeping up in your IG stories and can hardly wait to see how the rooms turns out.
Lastly, thanks for the new IG account suggestion too. I loved her squares as soon as I clicked over. Her green is the same (maybe just close) as our kitchen walls and I’m always looking for new inspo.

Hope you have a great weekend and get to relax a little! 😉

I love hearing from you!
